SUPPLEMENTS

There are many supplements on the market today which often present a bewildering array to those wishing to take them. Fiona will help to guide you through the maze of supplements to ensure that you are taking those of the highest quality, reasonable price and that are specifically targeted to your needs.

Why do we need supplements?

I am often asked why we need supplements when surely we should be getting all we need from our food?

"In an ideal world a varied well balanced diet may provide all the nutrients required for good health.  However, the pressures of the fast paced world we live in may mean we are not always eating a healthy well balanced diet and may miss out on vitamins, minerals and nutrients.  Supplementation may help to maintain nutrient levels within the body to support optimal health. Studies have shown that a part of the population have minor deficiencies which may mean they are not able to function at their best. " Fiona Lennon

Supplements and biochemical tests are paid for in addition to consultation fees.

"Vitamin D deficiency is now recognized as a pandemic.... Vitamin D deficiency causes rickets in children and will precipitate and exacerbate osteopenia, osteoporosis, and fractures in adults. Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with increased risk of common cancers, autoimmune diseases, hypertension, and infectious diseases. A circulating level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D of >75 nmol/L, or 30 ng/mL, is required to maximize vitamin D's beneficial effects for health."
